The Chippewa Valley Firecracker

After surviving the onslaught of neighborhood Redneck fireworks on the 4th, it was nice to spend the rest of the weekend in a relaxing fashion with my long-time friend Joel, who came to town to race in the Eau Claire stop on the WORS (Wisconsin Off-Road Series)...The Chippewa Valley Firecracker. I was once again on 'official' water bottle duty, as my own misconceptions about being able to ride this course came to an abrupt end last year when I went with Joel to 'test' out the course...(I think I had to get off and walk my bike like 15 times in the 8-mile lap)....I'll leave this form of bike riding to these guys and gals and stick to the road for now...I think this announcer may call soccer matches in his spare time...Here's the start of Joel's race...

I've always considered myself to be the type of person who's at times, easily amused...and yesterday was no exception. While diligently waiting to pass Joel a water bottle on his way through each lap, I befriended a dog and his owner next to me...This dog was so amusing because it would bark every time the riders would come past down the straightaway, almost in a barking form of encouragement...I of course could not stop laughing and decided to catch him on video...

Joel had a great race and ended up winning his Age Group and taking 3rd Overall for his Division - Very impressive...Congrats to Joel on a great race.

Plus...You can't beat the "ride up" to claim his prize...

Best of luck to Joel the rest of the season...But, be sure to be on the lookout for this guy...
