NYC For Sale...

Is nothing sacred in this country anymore? News came today that one of New York City's greatest skyscrapers, the Chrysler Building, has been sold to...the United Arab Emirates of course! News like this makes me completely ill. How can this happen you ask? It's not a shock...the economy is in shambles and foreign investors have been leveraging the strength of other currencies vs. the dollar...to peck away at eventually owning the majority stake in many significant and major properties in this country...It's been happening for decades, so it comes as no surprise that the downturn in our real estate market has made it a 'foreign buyer's market' for the rest of the world...This is another great example of how ignorant we are as 'Americans'...and how the longer we ignore the percolating undercurrent of this erosion will cause us to one day wake up in someone else's 'America'...Don't believe me? Let's take a look at some evidence...

Rockefeller Center...Owned by the Japanese...

The Flatiron Building...Owned by the Italians...

The Essex House Hotel...Owned by the UAE...

The GM Building...Owned by Kuwait and Qatar...

Our oil-rich Arab "friends" already have their foot on our throat due to our addiction, obsession, and dependence on their 'crude', but I guess it's only a matter of time before they own a majority of our valuable 'American' properties too...what's next...the Statue of Liberty?

Our once proud nation has quickly become a laughing stock in the eyes of the rest of the world, due largely in part to our pompous political mentality of being the 'leader of the free-world'..We have always shown the ignorant mindset of fixing the world, while turning a blind eye and deaf ear to 'Americans' in need in our own country. It's long been my opinion that we can't fix the ills of the world before we fix what afflicts our own...We've got roadways crumbling, bridges collapsing, and homeless and hungry folks living on our streets...Yet we're worried about Iran firing test missiles? I'm no 'rocket propulsionist' but I doubt these 'long-range' versions could reach the mainland United States...Oh, but that's right...40% of the world's oil is trafficked through this region...and we have troops fighting a senseless war...and military bases to protect...So we better ensure our (oil) interests are protected there first...Oh, and Israel too...can't forget about them.

Again...Thanks 'Sheep'...Even the great Roman Empire once fell...You've gotta believe our time is coming soon enough...
